Scrappy Rainbow Patchwork Flying Geese quilt

Today I’m sharing another scrappy quilt! This time it’s a scrappy Patchwork Flying Geese quilt. Patchwork Flying Geese came out many years ago and is one of the Quilty Love stash busters.

I really like making this version of Patchwork Flying Geese where the “geese” pieces are all low volume prints. In this case I pulled a bundle of pinks, oranges, greens and blues from my stash along with a pile of low volume prints.

The Patchwork Flying Geese quilt pattern is available in the Quilty Love pattern shop.

Patchwork Flying Geese quilt patten

The Patchwork Flying Geese quilt pattern came out a few years ago. It’s part of the Quilty Love Stashbusters series. It doesn’t require background fabric so you can pull a bundle of fabrics from your stash and start sewing!

Low volume geese version

I’ve made this low volume geese version of Patchwork Flying Geese before. I loved how it turned out and wanted to make another one. This time I used some vibrant pinks, oranges, greens and blues from my stash.

All of the low volumes are brighter white backgrounds. To create this look, use low volume fabrics for the larger square in the four at a time flying geese.

Patchwork Flying Geese is fat quarter friendly. It includes tons of size options:

Wing Clipper Flying Geese Ruler

The Patchwork Flying Geese quilt pattern has you making four at a time flying geese in the exact sizing. But lately I prefer to size up and trim using the Wing Clipper ruler. I find it easier to end up with the correct size when upsizing and trimming to size.

The flying geese trimmings were too pretty not to photograph 🙂 I arranged this scrappy Patchwork Flying Geese in rainbow order. I kind of liked how it looked over a random placement.

Multi Stitch Zig Zag quilting

This scrappy rainbow Patchwork Flying Geese was quilted up using the multi stitch zig zag and a walking foot. I used to quilt with this stitch all of them time before I had a machine that could do the wavy stitch. I recently started using it again and absolutely love it!

The texture is slightly different than the wavy stitch and oh so good!
