Scrappy Patchwork Hearts Quilt
Today I’m sharing this sweet and scrappy Patchwork Hearts quilt. This was the very first test quilt I sewed up with this year’s heart quilt pattern.
Patchwork Hearts is the fourth annual Quilty Love Scrappy heart quilt pattern and it’s scrappy and it’s happy. This version uses an assortment of Ruby Star Society Basics fabrics.
Patchwork Hearts is stash friendly, scrap friendly or even fat quarter friendly. I used some fat quarters from my fabric stash for this pretty pink, purple and peach heart quilt.
Patchwork Hearts is in the Quilty Love pattern shop. Join the quilt along that goes along with this heart pattern here.
Scrappy Patchwork Hearts Quilt
This scrappy Patchwork Hearts quilt uses an assortment of Ruby Star Society Basics. I’ve had this stack in my fabric stash for a while thinking it would be used for one of the heart quilts. It worked out really well for Patchwork Hearts.
The throw size Patchwork Hearts quilt uses 13 fat quarters so I think I doubled up on a couple of the colors below.
Ruby Star Society Basics
Ruby Star Society Basics are such a great option to build your fabric stash with. They are basics so the patterns are subtle and work really well all mixed together. Some of these prints are being discontinued like the grid and the brushed but they are being replaced with other fun designs. If you are looking to add to your fabric stash, these basics are a great place to start.
The heart fabric in this scrappy Patchwork Hearts quilt is Ruby Star Society Speckled in White Gold.
Originally I had a brighter magenta color mixed into the fabric bundle. I think they are the strawberry color in the Ruby Star Society basics. But they ended up standing out too much so I removed them from the quilt.
This quilt left my sewing room so cheerful and happy. These colors and these fabrics really make me happy so this was a really fun quilt to sew up.
Quilty Love Heart Quilt Pattern
Each year I come up with a new heart quilt pattern. It started four years ago when the baby was just born. I felt this urgency to sew again after she was born and to use my overflowing scrap bins. So each year these heart quilts are scrappy friendly.
I didn’t actually end up using my scrap stash this year because my reds and pinks are getting depleted after making so many heart quilts over the years! I was able to use fat quarters already in my stash though 🙂
So the goal for these heart quilts every year is to make them stash friendly and then to host a quilt along so we can all sew along together.
Patchwork Hearts Quilt Pattern
This heart quilt pattern is named Patchwork Hearts because it is patchwork! The background of this quilt looks like patchwork. It’s a simple patchwork quilt and the end result is a fun and scrappy heart quilt.

- Your scrap stash

Long Arm Quilting
Modern Textiles long arm quilted this scrappy Patchwork Hearts quilt for me. We picked out this adorable heart baptist fan pantograph that goes perfectly with this quilt. This is one of those quilts that just makes me smile when I look at it.
Minky backing
The best part about this scrappy Patchwork Hearts quilt is the minky backing! It’s super soft and super warm. I used a Shannon Cuddle minky backing in the color Woodrose.
I was able to snap some photos of the toddler with the annual heart quilt. It’s kind of become a tradition to include her in these heart quilts. It’s crazy to see how much she has grown since the first one. She loves these heart quilts each year. It’s so cute.
Here’s a closer look at the minky backing and the quilting design. I finally got myself some quilt labels recently. I bought them from Dutch Label Shop.
