Today I’m sharing the scrappy low volume Star Pop II quilt. I started this quilt last fall when Star Pop II was released and just finished it yesterday. Star Pop II is a fast and fun stash friendly star pattern. It’s nice and scrappy so it works well with fat quarters, 1/4 yards, fat eighths or layer cake squares.
Star Pop II is a nice beginner friendly star pattern. It’s constructed in a way where you won’t lose any of your star points.
The Star Pop II quilt pattern is available in the Quilty Love pattern shop.
Star Pop II quilt pattern
The Star Pop II quilt pattern was released last fall. It is a variation of the original Star Pop quilt pattern. When I was designing the original Star Pop quilt pattern, I couldn’t decide which direction to go with it. So I wrote up both versions and decided to release them a year apart.
Differences between the original Star Pop and Star Pop II
So what’s different with the two patterns…? The original Star Pop quilt pattern has rectangle backgrounds and Star Pop II has square backgrounds. Star Pop II is much quicker and easier because it’s just one repeating block. Whereas the original Star Pop pattern has two blocks.
Both are precut friendly.
Pre-cut friendly quilt pattern
Star Pop II is super precut friendly! Use any of the following fabric cuts for Star Pop II:
- Fat Eighths
- Fat Quarters
- 1/4 yard cuts
- Layer cake or 10 inch squares
Use yardage or additional pre-cuts for the stars like I did in this scrappy low volume version.
Ruby Star Society Fabrics
Most of the fabrics in this low volume Star Pop II quilt are Ruby Star Society fabrics. There are a few other Moda fabrics mixed in. I have kits of this quilt in my shop.
Scrappy Low Volume Star Pop II Long Arm Quilting
I sent this scrappy low volume Star Pop II quilt off to Knot and Thread for quilting. I was so excited to see this quilting when I got this quilt back. It is such a fun design. This rainbow like pantograph is called Arches.
I decided to try out a new way of attaching my quilt label to this quilt. You will see labels attached to clothing like this sometimes. It’s a great way to add labels to your quilts that are already completed. I kind of like it. My labels are from Dutch Labels.
Scrappy Low Volume quilt Background
I have really loved scrappy low volume backgrounds lately. All of the low volumes kind of act as a neutral solid background with some added movement and texture. I’ve experimented with flat low volumes like in this Glowing quilt here and a mix of tones like the Star Pop II featured in this post. I like both options.
