Scrap Stash Quilty Stars quilt
Today I’m sharing this scrap stash Quilty Stars quilt! I sewed this fun scrappy star quilt up last summer using my scrap stash. The Quilty Stars quilt pattern is written with your scrap stash in mind.
The Quilty Stars quilt pattern is in the pattern shop here.
Scrap stash Quilty Stars quilt
The Quilty Stars quilt pattern is a scrappy friendly quilt. It was written with your scraps in mind. Most of my pattern titles that include Quilty are scrappy friendly.
For this colorful version of Quilty Stars I went through my scrap bins and started cutting. I kept it entirely scrappy using low volume scraps as the background pieces. The quilt pattern includes instructions for a scrappy background also.
I stuck with a limited color palette on this scrappy star quilt. You can see the assortment of colors I used below. I went really heavy on the pinks and purply pinks as the main color with oranges coming in as a secondary color and a sprinkling of mustard, teals and aquas. I did not end up using any of the limey greens in this quilt.
Low volume scrappy background
I used my low volume scraps to keep this star quilt allllll scrappy. For the backgrounds, I stuck with prints that read really light. I used very few creams or light greys and instead used low volume prints with brighter white backgrounds.
My scrap bins are these bins from Target (the large size). My cutting table is a freestanding kitchen island from Ikea.
These Quilty Star blocks are a nice size so they can go together fairly quickly. They aren’t too tedious. These scrappy blocks make me ridiculously happy.

I sent this scrappy and happy star quilt off to Katie at Modern Textiles for quilting. We chose this pretty flower quilting pantograph. I love how it pairs with these happy colors. It keeps it really fresh and modern.
Quilt backing + binding
This scrap stash Quilt Stars quilt is backed with a really nice neutral print from Ruby Star Society. It’s Caves in Saddle from the Linear fabric line. The binding is Ruby Star Speckled in Daisy.
I just love how bright and happy this scrappy star quilt turned out 🙂
