Ruby Star Society Sketchbook Happy Stripes quilt
Today I’m sharing this Ruby Star Society Sketchbook Happy Stripes quilt! I used a Sketchbook fabric jelly roll to make this small throw quilt.
Happy Stripes is a Quilty Love bestseller and for good reason! It’s fast, it’s fun and it uses a wide variety of pre-cut fabrics.
The Happy Stripes quilt pattern is available in the Quilty Love pattern shop.

The Happy Stripes quilt pattern is a customer favorite! And I believe that’s because it’s fast and fun. Plus you can use so many different cuts of fabrics such as:
- fat quarters
- layer cake squares (10 inch squares)
- Jelly roll strips (2.5 inch strips)
- Or your fabric or scrap stash
It also includes instructions for tons of quilt sizes:
- Baby size quilt – 40″ x48″
- Small throw size – 48″ x 56″ (shown here)
- Medium throw size – 56″ x 64″
- Large throw size – 64″ x 72″
- Twin size bed quilt – 64″ x 88″
- Full size bed quilt – 80″ x 88″
- Queen size bed quilt – 96″ x 104″
- King size bed quilt – 112″ x 112″
Ruby Star Society Sketchbook fabric
This Sketchbook fabric by Alexia Abegg for Ruby Star Society came out within the past year or so. I absolutely love this line! It reminds me a lot of one of her early lines called Print Shop. I used it here.
I had this jelly roll in my stash just waiting to be used. I did a mock up of Happy Stripes using Sketchbook and knew I had to sew it up.
The backing and binding is the triangle print from the line.
Straight line quilting
Since this quilt is on the smaller size I decided to quilt it up myself. It’s been a while since I’ve quilted straight lines! I like how the straight lines keep the quilt modern looking. Plus they go so fast!
I quilted it up using a walking foot. The lines are 3/4 inch spaced.
