Rainbow Scrap Stash Log Cabin Stars quilt
Today I’m sharing this rainbow scrap stash Log Cabin Stars quilt! I made this one back when the pattern came out during the quilt along. It is made completely from my scrap stash. I used all low volume scraps for the log cabin portion and a rainbow of scraps for the stars.
I arranged this scrap stash Log Cabins Stars quilt in rainbow order. It was a fun way to sew through my scrap bins.
The Log Cabin Stars quilt pattern is available in the Quilty Love pattern shop.

Scrap Stash Rainbow quilt
One of my favorite types of quilts to make are scrap stash quilts. It’s funny, when I first started quilting I wasn’t that into scrappy quilts. But over the years I have become more and more fond of them. Maybe it’s the growing scrap collection and the satisfaction that comes from using those scraps that have changed my mind on them.
Whatever it is, I absolutely love scrap stash quilts now. I love the visual interest in them. I love the satisfaction I get from making a quilt from all scraps. It almost feels like a “free” quilt.
One of my favorite scrappy quilt styles is using low volume scraps for the backgrounds. It still provides a neutral background but with lots of added visual interest. And then add in a rainbow of color! I love quilting the rainbow because it allows me to work through each color of my scrap bins.
I organize my scraps by color. The scrap bins collect everything from 2.5 inch to less than a fat eighth. I use these bins in the larger size.
I purchased these scrap bins quite a few years ago now and really love them! They are the first thing I see when I walk into my sewing room. And because I always see them I often feel inspired to use them! As soon as they start to feel like they are overflowing then I know it’s time for a new scrappy quilt.
Wavy Stitch quilting
I did my favorite wavy stitch quilting on this rainbow scrap stash Log Cabin Stars quilt. I usually space my lines 3/4 inch apart but went with 1 inch for this one. The quilt is a little more drapey with the wider spaced lines.
