Quarry Trail Fat Quarter Dash quilt
Today I’m sharing the Quarry Trail Fat Quarter Dash quilt. This is the last sample quilt I made up for the new Stash Buster quilt pattern. Fat Quarter Dash is the second quilt in the Quilty Love Stash Buster Series. This quilt pattern is fast and easy and stash friendly.
I used the new Quarry Trails fat quarter bundle for this Fat Quarter Dash quilt. Quarry Trails is printed on Essex Linen so this quilt has the most gorgeous texture.
Fat Quarter Dash is in the Quilty Love pattern shop.
Quarry Trails Fat Quarter Dash Quilt
I couldn’t wait to cut into this brand new Quarry Trails fat quarter bundle by my friend Anna (Noodlehead) for Robert Kaufman. Her color palettes are always so good. They are such good classic colors. I especially loved the blacks and blues in this fabric line.
Anna’s fabrics are always printed on Essex Linen for that delicious texture. I love to use Essex linen in my quilts since it does provide the added texture.
Fat Quarter Dash is a stash buster quilt so it’s perfect for any fat quarter bundle you have in your stash. I will admit that this fat quarter bundle wasn’t in my stash long before I cut into it…lol
Here’s a closer look below at the texture in this Quarry Trail fabric line. The fabric line is printed on a variety of essex linen for even more layered detail.
Mix and Match Fat Quarter Quilt
Fat Quarter Dash is a mix and match fat quarter quilt. This means you cut all of your pieces for one block from one fat quarter and then you mix and match the pieces to make your blocks. The mixing and matching part is always my favorite.
Fat Quarter Dash quilt
Fat Quarter Dash is the second quilt in the Quilty Love Stash Buster Series. It’s designed with your stash in mind! The quilts in the stash buster series do not use background fabrics. Without background fabrics you can really put a dent in your fabric stash.
Fat Quarter Dash is written around fat quarters (no surprise right..ha). If you have a fat quarter bundle that you have had sitting around it will work great for this. Or mix and match fat quarters from your stash for your Fat Quarter Dash quilt.
You can use 1/4 yards only if your width of fabric is a minimum of 42 inches wide. Or you can use 1/2 yards by cutting them in half as fat quarters.
Beginner friendly quilt pattern
Fat Quarter Dash was also written with beginner quilters in mind. I wanted to offer a really easy beginner friendly quilt pattern for those who are just learning to quilt or even attempting their very first quilt. Fat Quarter Dash is a great first time quilt since the piecing is simple.
All the quilt sizes
Fat Quarter Dash includes instructions for six different size quilts. You can make a baby size all the way up to king size using the Fat Quarter Dash quilt pattern.
The pattern includes:
- Baby size
- Small throw size
- Large throw size
- Twin bed quilt
- Queen bed quilt
- King bed quilt
Backing and Binding
This Quarry Trail Fat Quarter Dash quilt is backed in a black Blossoms wideback by Riley Blake. The black wideback pulls from the blacks in the quilt top and worked out well for this quilt. I really love these Blossom widebacks and have used them quite a bit lately.
The binding is Kona cotton in the color Prussian.
Long arm quilting
I sent this Quarry Trail Fat Quarter Dash quilt off to Vintage Stitch for quilting. Since the quilt top was pretty busy I chose this simple wave stitch. This long arm quilting design is one of my favorites. It looks great on all quilts!
Machine Binding
You can see the machine binding I did on this Fat Quarter Dash quilt below. Lately I have been machine binding all of my quilts to save time. I do enjoy hand stitching but I just haven’t had the time for that lately. I have a really easy to follow machine binding tutorial on the blog here.
The pops of coral and peach in this Quarry Trail fabric line are so pretty.
