Plus Charmed Quilt Pattern – The Fableism Sprout Wovens one

Today I’m sharing this pretty Sprout Wovens Plus Charmed quilt. I sewed this one up last spring when the Plus Charmed quilt pattern came out. Plus Charmed is a big block plus quilt.

The Plus Charmed quilt pattern is a good beginner friendly quilt pattern with big simple blocks. It’s got a nice modern design.

Plus Charmed Quilt pattern

The Plus Charmed quilt pattern came out in the spring of 2024. It’s a bigger bolder version of the original Plus Squared quilt pattern. Plus Charmed uses charm squares or layer cake squares for the plus signs or you can also use fat quarters like I did here.

Plus Charmed is a nice beginner friendly quilt pattern with simple traditional piecing and nice big blocks.

The Plus Charmed quilt pattern includes 4 quilt sizes:

  • Baby size – 41″ x 41″
  • Square throw size – 60″ x 60″
  • Large throw size – 60″ x 80″ (shown here)
  • Queen/ King bed size – 100″ x 100″

Fableism Sprout Wovens

I had this beautiful Curiosity bundle of Sprout Wovens that I was excited to sew up. I’m always drawn to the blues in quilting fabric so this bundle was perfect for me.

The Fableism Sprout Wovens are one of my favorites to sew with since it has that subtle texture. They are a looser weave fabric and can be a little more finicky than your regular quilting cotton. But the end result is a super soft and drapey quilt.

Sewing with Fableism Wovens

Whenever I sew with Fableism Wovens, I take these steps to ensure a securely sewn quilt:

  • I pre-wash to pre-shrink. These wovens shrink quite a bit so I pre-shrink them so there are no popped seams in the future quilt.
  • I use a smaller stitch length like 1.8. This tighter stitch will help hold these fabrics together.
  • I try to press my seams to the side. A side pressed seam is a little stronger in the long run than an open pressed seam.
  • I consider denser quilting to hold it all together.

All of this ensures that this quilt will be nice and secure for many many years of use.

Baptist fan long arm quilting

I sent this rather large throw size quilt off to Modern Textiles for quilting. I went with a traditional baptist fan design. I’ve always loved baptists fans because I feel like they are kind of timeless.

Gingham backing

This Sprout Wovens Plus Charmed quilt is backed in Fableism Camp Gingham in the color Granite.
