Patchwork Hearts II quilt pattern – the new Quilty Love heart pattern
Today I’m excited to share the brand new 2025 Quilty Love heart pattern! This year I revisited a popular past heart quilt and upsized the block for a quicker and less tedious assembly.
Patchwork Hearts II is the 7th consecutive year of heart patterns! I started these heart patterns kind of by accident when our youngest was born. I wanted to get back into the sewing room and was inspired to make a scrap friendly quilt. I’ve kept up this tradition each year with a new heart pattern.
Patchwork Hearts II is now in the shop. You can check out all of the Quilty Love heart patterns here.
Patchwork Hearts II quilt pattern
Patchwork Hearts II is a larger block and heart size than the original allowing it to sew together a little faster than the original. I was at retreat last year and my friend Shelly was sewing it up.
A conversation started about how some of the quilters at the retreat were not expecting it to take so long to sew together. It was about the time I was brainstorming this year’s heart quilt so I thought a bigger version would be a good idea. The original has cute little hearts but that defiantly makes it more tedious to sew up.
So this year the heart quilt is Patchwork Hearts II which is still stash friendly and a little faster to sew up.
Stash friendly heart quilt pattern
Since the heart quilt always falls at the beginning of the year when a lot of us commit to using our current fabrics, I do really try to make them stash friendly.
Patchwork Hearts two can be sewn up using fat quarters, fat eighths or your scrap stash.
Lots of quilt sizes included
Patchwork Hearts II includes the following size options in the instructions:
- Baby size – 48″ x 48″
- Lap size – 48″ x 60″
- Throw size – 60″ x 72″
- Full size bed quilt – 84″ x 96″
- Queen/king size bed quilt – 96″ x 108″
Fabric stash Patchwork Hearts II
For this version of Patchwork Hearts II I pulled some fat quarters from my stash and some yardage for the hearts. Most of these fat quarters are Ruby Star Society. There might be a few others mixed in.
Long Arm quilting
I sent this Patchwork Hearts II quilt off to Modern Textiles for quilting. I of course chose my favorite pantograph for heart quilts – Baptist Heart Clams.
