Log Cabin Stars Quilt Pattern + a quilt along
Today I’m excited to share the Log Cabin Stars quilt pattern! Log Cabin Stars is the newest Quilty Love pattern available in the shop. Log Cabin Stars is a fun and modern take on the log cabin quilt. It incorporates one of my favorite quilt designs, sawtooth stars.
Log Cabin Stars is nice and stash friendly. Use fat eighths, fat quarters or your scrap stash to sew one of these log cabin quilts up. So grab some fabric from your stash and join us for the Quilt Along that starts on September 18th!
Log Cabin Stars is available in the Quilty Love pattern shop.
Log Cabin Stars Quilt Along
It’s been a while since I’ve hosted a quilt along and I’m happy to say we will be doing one for Log Cabin Stars! Sign up for the 5 week quilt along below.
Log Cabin Stars Quilt Pattern
I’m excited to introduce the Log Cabin Stars quilt pattern. Log Cabin Stars is a fun and modern take on a log cabin quilt. It starts with a classic star.
Log Cabin Stars is very stash friendly. Use fat quarters, fat eighths or your scrap stash to sew one up.
So far I’ve made a few samples and am liking it in a variety of fabrics.
Log Cabin Stars Quilt Pattern Sizes
Like always, the Log Cabin Stars quilt pattern comes with lots of size options:
- Baby or Lap size
- Small throw size
- Large throw size
- Twin bed quilt
- Full size bed quilt
- Queen size bed quilt
This Ruby Star Society Birthday version is the large throw size.
I would call Log Cabin Stars an ambitious beginner quilt pattern. The pattern uses the four at a time flying geese technique and the challenge for newer quilters will be keeping those star points nice and sharp. But… I’m here to tell you that all of us lose our star points from time to time. 🙂
Ruby Star Society Birthday Fabric
This Ruby Star Society Birthday version of Log Cabin Stars was my first sample quilt. This fat quarter bundle of Birthday was in my stash just waiting to be used. I love how bright and happy this fabric is. I used yardage for my stars so they stand out a little more.
The pattern includes the option to use yardage for the stars or a scrappy version that uses the fat quarters as the stars.
The stars in this quilt are both Speckled by Ruby star in Black and White Gold. I added in a few white stars so they would contrast against the darker fabrics in this fabric line.
Long Arm Quilting
I sent this Birthday version of Log Cabin Stars off to Modern Textiles for quilting. We chose a pantograph called Criss Cross Stars.
The backing is a Speckled Wide Back in Dove by Ruby Star Society. The binding is Ruby Star Society Speckled in Peony.
