Flannel Cozy Season Star Pop quilt
Today I’m sharing this flannel Cozy Season Star Pop quilt. Some how this soft and cozy flannel quilt never made it up on the blog. I finished this one up over 3 years ago using my Cozy Season bundle with Robert Kaufman.
Cozy Season was a curated flannel bundle that I put together for Robert Kaufman. It was about 3 years ago now but I still love this bundle. It’s probably getting pretty hard to find now.
The Star Pop quilt pattern is available in the Quilty Love pattern shop.
Star Pop quilt pattern
This flannel star quilt is the original Star Pop quilt pattern. The original Star Pop quilt has rectangle blocks whereas Star Pop II has square blocks.
Star Pop is a fat quarter friendly quilt pattern that comes in lots of quilt sizes:
- Baby – 45″ x 50″
- Small throw – 52″ x 60″
- Large throw – 60″ x 70″
- Twin bed size – 67″ x 90″
- Full bed size – 82″ x 100″
- Queen bed size – 97″ x 110″
- King bed size – 112″ x 110″
You can also use layer cake squares for this quilt. One layer cake makes one block. Or you can use fat eighth or 1/4 yard cuts but cut carefully since you need the full 9 inches!
Cozy Season Flannel Bundle
I used my Cozy Season flannel bundle for this Star Pop quilt. I collaborated with Robert Kaufman a couple of years ago to create this mammoth flannel bundle. The bundle is not really available anymore but you can also make your own using their Mammoth Flannel fabrics.
The stars in this Star Pop quilt uses Robert Kaufman Speckled Flannel. I really love the added texture the speckled flannel gives.
Quilting with flannel
Flannel is a little more finicky than a quilting cotton. It is more prone to fraying and shrinking. It can actually be a little surprising by how much it shrinks!
For this reason I usually pre-wash flannel. I also use a smaller stitch length like 1.8 when sewing with flannel.
This flannel Star Pop traveled around to quilt shops for the past couple of years. Maybe you saw it out and about 🙂
