Coin Quilt Pattern _ The Kona Cotton Solids One
Coin quilt pattern
The second quilt I’m introducing today is a Coin quilt pattern called Coins. Coins quilt is a simple charm quilt or coin quilt. Coin quilt patterns are typically stacked rectangles that mimic a stack of coins. This coin quilt plays on pairs of coins. 🙂

Beginner friendly quilt pattern
Coins quilt is a super easy beginner friendly quilt pattern. I’ve been thinking about my beginner quilters more these days and hope to provide more simple patterns. This is the first in the Quilty Love Simple Series quilt patterns.
Everyone loves a simple quilt because they usually mean quick also! This coin quilt pattern is no exception. I had this coin quilt cut and pieced in a day.
Fabrics Used
I used the same color scheme as Triangle Peaks for this coin quilt pattern. I thought it would be fun to keep both of these patterns in the same colors.
Here are the Kona Colors Used:
Gumdrop
Punch
Melon
Goldfish
Mango
Pond
Mint
Cactus
Quilt Sizes
Coins quilt comes in all the quilt sizes: Baby, Lap, Throw, Twin and Queen.
This solid verion is the lap size quilt. I usually make nice large throw size quilts but I needed to finish this one quickly so I made the smaller lap size. I really like this size and might need to keep adding this option to future patterns.
Fabric Requirements
Coins quilt is all the pre-cuts friendly! I love when that happens. And I’m still thrilled when it works out like that.
Use a Charm pack, layer cake, jelly roll, fat eighths or fat quarters. Cutting instructions are included for which ever precut you want to use.
Charm quilt pattern
This is a really good charm quilt pattern and I know everyone is always looking for another charm quilt. Charms are a fun way to buy fabrics since they are affordable and offer so much variety within the fabric line.
Simple quilting
Since I was short on time I kept the quilting super simple. Well there was that and the fact that I didn’t know what to do with it after the simple lines…haha. So I left it as is with straight lines across each horizontal sashing piece. It doesn’t get any easier (or faster) than that!
Solid backing
I kind of like the simple quilting on this modern quilt plus it keeps it nice and drapey. Add to that the solid Kona Cotton backing in Silver and this is a super soft quilt. I used the grey backing out of necessity but I’m thinking I should use it more often. I really like the modern feel it adds plus it’s super soft.
Striped binding
Coins quilt is bound in one of my new favorite binding fabrics. It’s a Riley Blake stripe. The wider stripes are a fun change from the tighter stripes I’ve used in the past. Can’t go wrong with a black and white striped binding! I’ve been buying a couple of yards at a time from fabric.com.
Coins quilt makes for a good baby quilt, graduation quilt or even a teacher appreciation gift. It sews up quickly which makes it the perfect gift quilt. Coins quilt is available as an instant download here.
