Art Gallery Fabrics Duval Geo Gems Quilt
Today I’m sharing this Art Gallery Fabrics Duval Geo Gems quilt! I finished this one up earlier in the year using Duval fabrics by Suzy Quilts.
Geo Gems is a classic block that works great with solids + prints or you can mix and match all prints or all solids. The pattern was originally written using solids as the backgrounds like this one here. I updated it a while back to also include the option to use various fat quarters in place of the solids.

Geo Gems quilt pattern
The Geo Gems quilt pattern came out back in 2017. It’s a block based quilt that uses fat quarters (the prints) and half yards (the solids).
You can also use fat quarters in place of the half yards. Just double the amount needed. So for example this throw size uses x10 half yards. Replace them with x20 fat quarters.
This Duval version uses solids as the background but I used fat quarters instead of half yards.
Geo Gems includes instructions for the following quilt sizes:
- Crib size quilt – 45″ x 45″
- Throw size quilt – 60″ x 75″ (shown here)
- Queen size bed quilt – 90″ x 105″
Duval fabrics by Suzy Quilts for Art Gallery Fabrics
Suzy sent me some of her Duval fabric + the solids to use a while back and I was thrilled to sew something up with it. The solids are so rich and beautiful in color. I thought it would work perfectly in a Geo Gems with the mix of solids + prints.
I really love this line of subtle prints in a beautiful color palette.
Long Arm Quilting
I sent this Duval Geo Gems quilt off to Modern Textiles for quilting. It’s a nice generous throw size so I was happy to let someone else do the quilting.
